Happy Chinese New Year!

Gung Hei Fat Choy students!

Welcome to the year of the PIG! Did you know, the pig is the 12th and therefore the last of all the Chinese zodiac animals? Some stories say that this is because when the Emperor was deciding the order of the animals, the pig overslept and was late, so he had to be 12th place!!

I learned all of this information from the internet!! :)

Here are some more things I found out about the year of the pig:

Pigs are a lucky animal. Not only are they very clever, but in Chinese culture they are a symbol of wealth.

Their chubby faces and big ears are a sign of wealth and money too! I have a chubby face, does this mean I can be rich like the pig? I hope so, haha!

Lucky colours for the pig are yellow, grey and brown. Lucky numbers are 2, 5 and 8.

What will you do this Chinese New Year, students? Will you have a big meal with your family and get lots of lucky red envelopes? I will spend CNY with my Chinese family too - I can't wait to eat all the yummy food! See you after the holiday!

Love, Miss Stephanie
